Under the e-mall system, products can be bought online and delivered with the help of Saudi Post’s Wasel service.
In one test run, a package was successfully sent to Rayan Al-Namri of Kamil. In another trial, a gift was bought online and delivered to the Rabigh post office from where it was shipped through Wasel and delivered to the addressee Abdullah Abid Al-Johani. A third package was successfully delivered in Jeddah.
The service has been made possible since Saudi Arabia began implementing a nationwide postal code system.
Mail has traditionally been delivered only to post offices and businesses.
Though residential post boxes have been installed in much of the Kingdom, home delivery is still a novelty as Saudi Post continues to ramp up efforts to offer residential mail delivery.
