Alsalam, which has been carrying out MRO services for local carriers, has signed prestigious maintenance agreements with Air Atlanta Icelandic.
“Alsalam Aircraft Co., formed under the Saudi Arabian Economic Offset Program, will perform light and heavy maintenance for the Air Atlanta B747 fleet as part of a broader agreement,” said Mohammad Noor Fallatah, Alsalam’s president and chief executive officer.
Fallatah said the Riyadh-based company possesses a full range of competencies for the maintenance of aircraft and the MRO sector is one of the most vibrant and thriving areas of activity in the Kingdom’s aerospace industry.
He said the partnership with Air Atlanta Icelandic was a new milestone.
Air Atlanta Icelandic is a service company driven to meet the goals of its customers, said a press statement released on the occasion.
The company, headquartered in Iceland, has nearly 30 aircraft in its fleet and employs nearly 1,000 people. Alsalam has expertise in carrying out A checks and C checks on aircraft.
Alsalam has the mandate to carry out checks that are required by the civil aviation authorities of Europe and Saudi Arabia, said the statement.
“Adding Air Atlanta Icelandic to the growing list of Alsalam’s international clients helps the company maintain its mission to be a world-class provider of aviation technical services, and to be a vital participant in the Saudi aviation industry,” said the statement.
Air Atlanta Icelandic is one of the biggest charter fleet operators in Europe and the largest aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance (ACMI) service providers in the world with over 20 years experience of wet-leasing, according to the statement.
“The collaboration between Alsalam and Air Atlanta widens Alsalam’s solid experience in aviation maintenance and serves to confirm the company’s status as a strategic aviation resource,” it added.
Alsalam has also acquired advance expertise and it carries heavy maintenance and modification on civil and military aircraft at its facilities in Riyadh. Alsalam has three climate controlled wide body hangars each capable of housing B747-400 sized aircraft, dedicated military hangars and a wide range of support shop capabilities including composite repairs.
