The three new organizations are Doctors Across Continents, the International Organization for Manpower Development and the International Islamic Organization for Lawyers.
The decision was taken by the league’s Constituent Council, which met here Tuesday under Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al-Asheikh, the Kingdom’s grand mufti and chairman of the council.
According to a final communiqué read out by Abdullah Al-Turki, secretary-general of MWL, the council discussed a detailed report on the MWL’s activities in the past year, especially in areas of interfaith dialogue and confronting smear campaigns against Islam and Muslims.
The meeting expressed its deep concern over the deteriorating situation in Gaza, which is still under Israeli siege.
It urged the international community to pressure the Jewish state to lift the siege and stop its atrocities and aggression against Palestinians. “We call upon all Islamic countries and relief organizations to extend more relief supplies to the people of Gaza,” the communiqué said.
Referring to the Kashmir issue, the council urged the international community to implement UN resolutions on the issue.
“With regard to the situation in southern Philippines, the council called for the implementation of the 1996 agreement, enabling Muslims in the region to enjoy their religious and national rights and establish peace,” the communiqué said.
It also urged relief and educational organizations to support Muslims of Mindanao and provide them with more humanitarian assistance.
