Although
missing the services of team captain and Ittihad star Muhammad Nur, the team
managed to secure the vital three points as it began its quest for the title.
Al-Nasr
defeated Najran in Najran 1-0, with the only goal of the match being scored by
Ovidie Petre in the 83rd minute. Al-Qadsiya defeated Al-Fateh 3-1 in Al-Ahsa,
with the biggest surprise of the round coming form Al-Shabab, who lost the
opening match against Al-Raid at King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh 2-0.

Defending
champions Hilal opened the team league match with a win against Al-Taawon 1-0
at King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh. The only goal of the match came
from Abdul Lateef Al-Ghannam in the seventh minute of the match.
Ahli
began their title chase brightly with a solitary goal defeat of Al-Hazem with
Omani import Emad Al-Hosny striking the valuable match-winner. Makkah side
Al-Wehda and Al-Faysaly drew 3-3 at King Abdul Aziz Stadium in Makkah.
The round

on that day. In the first match, Ittifaq will host Ahli at Prince Muhammad ibn
Fahd Stadium in Dammam, Nasr will host Al-Fateh at Prince Faisal ibn Fahd
