The police said that the men, all in their 20s, would check the iqamas (residence permit) of their victims before robbing them as they walked down Olaya Street.
After receiving a tip-off, police were able to catch the men.
The police said one of the men had an identity card issued by a police academy in a Gulf country.
Meanwhile, officers arrested a 20-year-old youth accused of using his car to deliberately run over a pedestrian before robbing him of his money, mobile phone and iqama.
They caught the man as he tried to run away from the scene in Ghornatah district. The suspect is in police custody and will appear in court as soon as investigations are completed, police said.
In West Riyadh, police arrested three people who allegedly robbed a pharmacy and took all the money from the cash register.
The pharmacist, who is an expatriate, told police he had been severely beaten up by the gang while his store was emptied.
Police said that even though the pharmacist was unable to give the number plate of the car the thieves used to get away, they were caught after officers spotted bloodstains on one suspect’s shirt.
