The Saudi Oger duo posted the winning net score of 57 in the two-ball Texas Scramble format competition, with a 3/8 handicap allowance, organized by Riyadh Group for British Business Golf Society in cooperation with DGCC Golf Manager Bouchaib El Jadiani.
The 18-hole event attracted more than 80 players who tried their luck on a hot sunny day with light breeze.
Mark Campbell and Gary Richardson, with a combined handicap of 14, was one stroke back in second place at 58, while the pair of Talal Sarieddine and Finlay Graham was two strokes further back in third at 60. Sarieddine and Graham played off 10 handicap.
The 12 handicap Ali Hernandez and George Mackay took the fourth position on 61 and Philip Pannell and Sam Montgomery, also with 12 handicap,  rounded out the first five winners on 62.
The fancied duo of M. S. Kim and Saudi national team standout Faisal Shalhab missed out on the prizes.
Reaping the dividends after working on adjustments in his game, Gaas carried the load for their 12 handicap team that put together a gross score of 69.
“My game has improved and with more club I no longer hit the ball as aggressive as before,” said Gaas whose adjusted handicap for this event was 1.1.
After an even par-36 front nine Gaas and Gauvin scorched the back side with five birdies against two bogeys for a 33.
Gaas set up Gauvin for a six-foot uphill birdie putt on the treacherous 10th hole with good drive and an approach shot that landed pin high on the green.
They bogeyed No. 11 but quickly recovered with birdies on the next three holes. Gaas stabbed a 6-iron to within a club length on the par-3 16 and made the putt before he and Gavin closed out with a bogey on 18.
Raymond O’Neill and David Treadgold claimed the awards for longest drive and closest to pin. The raffle draw winners were Rolf Grybb, Attila Soki and O’Neill who took home a Callaway hybrid club, Dirab Golf polo shirt and complete set of Hippo irons.
RGBB Golf Society captain Andy McKechnie thanked the club especially golf course owner and Saudi Golf Federation president Khaled Abunayyan and El Jadiani for hosting the tournament. McKechnie also thanked the RGBB Golf Society members and Riyadh Bank for their support to the event.
