The court-appointed liquidator Abdullah Omar Naseef and auditor Saleh Al-Naeem will address the press conference on Monday after Maghreb prayer at the Al-Noor lounge of the Le Méridien Hotel in Jeddah. The auction to sell the land in the Al-Shatie district of Jeddah is to be held on Oct. 4.
Al-Naeem said at the press conference, they will explain the mechanisms of selling the plots and the opportunities available to interested buyers, and answer media queries.
“We have received a number of questions about participating in the auction. We will answer these and any other questions,” he said.
Al-Ajhouri has been in prison in Jeddah and Riyadh for the last 28 years after being convicted of swindling more than SR1 billion from 8,765 investors from 37 countries in fake real estate investments.
Al-Naeem, however, declined to comment on recent press reports that Al-Ajhouri has objected to the auction and demanded to be present at the auction in person.
The reports also said that Al-Ajhouri had said his Al-Shatie plots would generate more money than the amount fixed by the liquidators.
“The liquidators are not concerned with his statements. We are working under royal decrees and according to court orders. We are concerned with finishing our work and giving the investors parts of their money. We want to close this file, which has been continuing for such a long time,” said Al-Naeem.
He said the press conference will also shed light on an auction to sell a 14,000 square meter plot of agricultural land that Al-Ajhouri owns in Madinah.
Al-Naeem urged investors to update their data via the Internet noting that only 10 percent of investors had done this so far.
