J-Lo, Tyler new `American Idol' judges

After months of turnover and speculation,
Fox finally assembled the new pieces of the “Idol” panel at a news conference
Wednesday. Actress-singer-dancer Lopez and Aerosmith frontman Tyler are set for
season 10 and Jackson, the only original judge left on “American Idol,” will
return. Simon Cowell left the show when the season ended in May, while Ellen
DeGeneres and Kara DioGuardi exited this summer. By filling just two of the
vacancies, “American Idol” is back to the three-judge panel that's been a mainstay
for most of the show's run. Whether Lopez and Tyler can recapture the offbeat
chemistry that Cowell shared with Paula Abdul, who left last year in a contract
dispute, remains to be seen. “American Idol” returns in January.
