“The agreement of the two Gulf Cooperation Council countries for travel carrying their personal identity cards was signed between the Second Deputy Premier and Interior Minister Prince Naif and Kuwait’s Interior Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Khaled Al-Sabah in Manama on Wednesday,” Bahrain’s Interior Minister Gen. Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al-Khalifa said in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency.
While addressing the conference of Iraq’s neighboring countries, Prince Naif affirmed the strong link between the security of Iraq and the security of its neighboring countries. “The welfare and safety of Iraq are in the hands of Iraqis themselves. They should give priority to their welfare and safety above all other considerations,” the prince said. He also condemned the terror attack in Iran on Wednesday that targeted a military parade.
“We strongly condemn the terror explosions targeting the security in Iran in which many people were killed and injured,” said the statement. “This kind of attack is unacceptable and we stand beside our brotherly Iran with all our security potentials to assist in reaching its perpetrators and bringing them to justice.”
The prince also condemned the recent terrorism attempt in Bahrain where culprits planned to detonate a string of car bombs with remote devices. Prince Naif is in Manama leading a Saudi delegation participating in a meeting of interior ministers from the region. The meeting includes interior ministers of Kuwait, Jordan, Iraq, Syria, Turkey, Iran, Bahrain, Egypt and representatives of the United Nations, the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Conference.
Naif was received at the airport by Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa, prime minister of Bahrain and other top officials.
Prince Naif later met with Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa and discussed issues of mutual concern. The meeting was attended by Premier Prince Khalifa and Eastern Province Gov. Prince Muhammad bin Fahd.
King Hamad also met with interior ministers of other countries attending the Manama meeting.
