“They broke into the house in order to steal but when they
saw the young lady alone with her blind mother, they raped her,” said First Lt.
Nawaf Al-Bouq of Jeddah police. “All this happened in front of her blind mother
with one of the rapists holding a knife down the girl’s throat and threatening
to kill her mother if she did not acquiesce,” he added.
The house does not have a lock on the door and is closed
with a sofa to secure the door, according to her older sister. “We live in a
very poor neighborhood with me, my children and my blind mother,” said Um
Khalid, the victim’s older sister. “We rely on social security for our income.
Following this incident we have now moved from the house to my friend’s house
for now,” she added.
“After the incident, my sister called the police and
provided them with accurate descriptions, stressing that their leader was short
and skinny. The police quickly rounded up the suspects and called her to
identify the three men,” said Um Khalid.
The police said that the three men were under the influence
of alcohol. After they admitted to their crime their case was transferred to
the Bureau of Investigation and Prosecution.
