Conference to focus on future of water and power industry

A large number of experts from various countries are expected to attend the Saudi Water and Power Forum (SWPF) at Jeddah Hilton. Running under the theme “Sustainable Prosperity through Knowledge, Innovation and Cooperation,” the forum will discuss policies and strategies to cope with the changing market and achieve sustainable prosperity.
Topics to be discussed at the forum include policies, projects and prospects for a sustainable future; initiatives to support innovation in the sector; realization of the potential of technology; renewable energy opportunities and solutions; energy conservation and demand management; water resource management; and financial tools for technology development and consumer relations.
The forum is the largest gathering of key bodies in the Kingdom’s water and power industry. Speakers at this year's event include Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, Minister of Water and Electricity Abdullah Al-Hussayen, Vice President of KACST Prince Turki bin Saud bin Mohammad, President of the King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy Hashim Yamani, President of the Arab Water Council and former Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Dr. Mahmoud Abu-Zeid, Governor of Saline Water Conversion Corporation Fehied Fahad Al-Shareef, CEO of the National Water Company Loay Al-Musallam, President and CEO of GE Power & Water Steve Bolze, and President and CEO of ACWA Power International Paddy Padmanathan.
The event will include an international exhibition, a national water company day and technical sessions led by Bushnak Academy, as well as networking events, including the Exhibition Opening Tour and Inauguration Ceremony, the Marafiq and GE Oil & Gas corporate luncheons, the new Networking Roundtable Discussions and an exclusive Gala Dinner featuring the prestigious SWPF Awards Ceremony hosted by ACWA Power International.
SWPF has been organized by Bushnak Academy and CWC under the supervision of the Saudi Ministry of Water and Electricity. Al-Aghar Group, an independent Saudi nonprofit think-tank, is preparing a study to determine the requirements of strategic planning for the water and power sectors.
