The new trucks will replace the aging units of different auto brands and will be deployed on several projects, from road construction to railroad projects, all over the Kingdom.
“This deal comes under Al-Ayuni’s best business practices, which mandates acquiring new truck fleets on a periodic basis to ensure consistent production output and meet its obligations toward customers,” said Abdul Karim Al-Ayuni, deputy chairman of Al-Ayuni’s board.
The event was attended by top industry leaders and executives including Swedish Ambassador Jan Thesleff and Bjorn Ingemanson, president of Volvo Trucks International Division.
“With railway projects in full swing in Saudi Arabia, our group remains committed to its 40 years of experience to deliver the best,” said Al-Ayuni.
The company feels very proud to be among the pioneers in introducing the latest technology to the construction industry in the Kingdom, he said, adding that the trucks will start rolling out of the Jeddah-based Volvo Trucks assembly plant, Arabian Vehicles Industries (AVI), next month.
“We are very pleased to partner with Al-Ayuni and supply them with this large quantity of trucks,” said Nasser J. Bayram, managing director of Zahid Tractor’s Commercial Vehicles Division. He said that new Volvo FMX was ready for the toughest of jobs and that it stands up to heavy loads, poor roads and challenging inclines.
“We have further developed the cab, the chassis and enhanced the truck with equipment and features that make it simply unbeatable in tough and demanding conditions,” said Ingemanson.
