Yukio, who was the country's premier till June this year, met with a high-power delegation from the Shoura Council headed by Abdul Mohsen Al-Zakari, who chairs the Saudi-Japanese Friendship Committee, to strengthen relations between the Japanese Parliament and the council.
"Saudi Arabia is a country which is respected by the world community for its wise policies that have benefited people both from the Kingdom and other countries, " Yukio told members of the delegation in his office in the Japanese capital. During the talks, Yukio registered his country's thanks to the Saudi government headed by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah, who he said had contributed a great deal to bilateral relations.
He also pledged his support to strengthen relations between the Japanese Parliament and the Shoura Council. Saudi Ambassador in Tokyo, Abdul Aziz Turkistani, was also present during the talks. The two parties discussed issues of common interest between the two countries and explored new areas of cooperation in the political, economic and cultural fields. The Saudi delegation also visited Singapore before traveling to Japan.
"In addition to enhancing parliamentary relations with Singapore and Japan, the visit was aimed at boosting commercial and investment relations," Al-Zakari said.
