Kingdom announces $400m assistance for flood victims

The United States also announced the release of $500 million dollars under the Kerry-Lugar Bill. Japan also announced $500 million dollars for the development of Pakistan’s flood-affected areas.
In another development, the US point man for Afghanistan and Pakistan Richard Holbrooke told a private TV channel that Pakistan Army chief Gen. Ashfaque Pervez Kayani will take decision about operations in North Waziristan.
He denied any US pressure for launching the operation in Waziristan.
Replying to a question, the US envoy said that the permanent membership of the UN Security Council for India is difficult.
He said the US wants to keep its troops in Afghanistan for next four years.
Holbrooke also denied that his country was holding talks with Taleban, but said that the United States would welcome talks between the Afghan government and the Taleban.
