Kunhu said the Forum’s volunteers were in Mina to receive pilgrims and guide them to their respective tents on Dul Hijjah 8, the first day of Haj when pilgrims start gathering in Mina.
The volunteers are mainly indian workers in Jeddah, Abha, Riyadh and Dammam. Volunteer service of the forum has virtually begun with the arrival of first flight from India in Madinah and Jeddah. In the airports they have helped the pilgrims with their baggage and assisted them to reach their accommodation buildings while some of the pilgrims required the support of wheel chairs.
Awareness and orientation classes on safety and health issues have been conducted for the Hajis in their own languages and if they lose their way, the volunteers guide them to their destinations, in Makkah and Madinah and coordinated with the Haj Mission and medical staff in the dispensaries and clinics to provide necessary assistance to the pilgrims.
Kunhu said training has been given to all the volunteers so that they will be able to support the pilgrims. The volunteers will coordinate with the tawafa organizations to help solve the problems of Hajis during their stay in Mina and assist the pilgrims while they are being transported to back to Makkah from the tent city, he added.
