“She did not suffer any serious injuries from the fall, however, further investigations will continue into the matter,” Col. Misfer Al-Juaid, spokesman for the Jeddah police, told Arab News. Eyewitnesses told police they saw the woman crawling from where she landed after the fall to hide under a parked vehicle.
The housemaid’s sponsor told police that she had arrived less than two weeks ago and showed dissatisfaction with the house chores.
The housemaid’s sponsor also to told police that two days before the incident he was planning to return her papers to the labor recruitment office after seeing her packing her clothes. He also claimed that she has been working for him for about a week
In a related incident, a 27-year-old Indonesian maid in Hafr Al-Baten committed suicide by hanging herself in her room, according to the online Al-Saudi news website that quoted a Saudi police spokesman.
“Her body has been kept at the morgue pending forensic examination,” said the spokesman, Brig. Bandar Al-Makhlaf.
