Thesleff, in his address at the opening of the Swedish-Saudi Seminar “The Future of Health Care: The Saudi Arabia and Sweden in Partnership” at the Ministry of Health headquarters here on Tuesday, also wished Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah a quick recovery from the surgery to correct the slipped disc.
There was a high profile presence of both Saudi and Swedish participants in the seminar.
“We should look to what we can offer each other. We are preparing for a visit of Health Minister Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah to Sweden next year to discuss health care matters, and we will also speak to Minister of Higher Education Khaled Al-Anqari on the modalities of the scholarship issue for Saudi students,” he said.
He also commended the economic situation of the Kingdom, describing the country as an amazing place. “I have been here for four and a half years, and the country is witnessing tremendous growth,” he said.
“While there is a slowdown in many other parts of the world, wheels are turning very quickly here. And I am not talking only about oil or business. I am talking what progress we see in every facet of life in the country,” he added. Representatives of a number of Swedish government agencies and private sector health care companies made presentations on Swedish health care system, lean management for hospitals, scientific centers of excellence and how they became the heart of the Swedish life science.
