"The media reports are not true. The reporters were on a journalistic mission with the knowledge of the editor in chief as they were assigned to prepare a report on hospital services. The two journalists were released soon after their mission was revealed," Al-Tunisi said.
A number of Internet blogs said the two women reporters were on a strange mission to test the security arrangements in hospitals and also the ability of police to trace kidnappers of babies from hospitals, like the incident that happened at a Madinah hospital.
The two journalists entered the Musaediya hospital to test the extent of security measures taken by authorities against potential kidnappers. They were stopped by hospital security.
"While the two women were going away with a baby, the hospital security stopped them and then handed them over to police," one report said.
