Madinah rioters being probed; police on alert

Security forces have been stationed in Asbah District where the incident took place, injuring a number of people and destroying about 20 cars.
Brig. Mohsen Al-Radadi, spokesman of Madinah police, confirmed that some youths who took part in the rioting sustained minor injuries. He also pointed out that glasses of vehicles stationed in the area were broken.
“Security officers intervened to disperse the troublemakers and onlookers. They also arrested a group of people from both sides and investigations with them are still ongoing,” the spokesman said.
Apart from 10 teams of special security forces, 60 patrol policemen and 300 security officers are deployed in the district to prevent further violence between the two groups. More than 800 youths had taken part in Thursday’s fighting. Asbah district is located close to Quba Mosque. According to one report, police arrested 38 youths involved in the incident.
