Speaking to reporters after meeting with Baha Gov. Prince Mishari bin Saud, he said the project would be awarded to potential contractors shortly. “We also intend to establish a national park in Baha with the support of the private sector,” he added. Referring to the increase in barley prices, Balghunaim said it was due to a rise in prices in international markets. He said there is no plan to produce barley in the Kingdom as it would be expensive. “We’ll continue importing barley and government provides subsidy to make it available to the public at reasonable price,” he pointed out. He emphasized the importance of establishing cooperative societies for farmers and livestock owners. “These societies can ensure supply of fodders at reasonable prices,” he said. Earlier, Prince Mishari said he had discussed with the minister a number of projects related to agriculture and forests. “Our talks were fruitful. The minister has pledged his full support to boost agriculture in Baha.”
