In a congratulatory message addressed to the health minister, the Crown Prince said: "Please convey our appreciation to the doctors, their assistants and paramedical staff for contributing to the recent achievements made at the hospital. We are ready to support every effort toward serving the health needs of the people in accordance with the guidelines of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah."
In recognition of its services, the Joint Accreditation International has formally granted accreditation status to the Hospital. This accreditation recognizes its commitment to excellence in patient care with the highest standards of practice. It is now one of a select, worldwide group of hospitals which has achieved this prestigious distinction. Joint Commission International is the largest and most prestigious accrediting agency of health care organizations in the world and is a recognized leader in improving the quality of health care.
The hospital had successfully carried out 48 kidney, two liver and four pancreas transplants without any complications or fatalities. Recently two liver transplants were successfully performed. The beneficiaries, 17 and 50-years-old men, were suffering from liver failure The first beneficiary was 17-year-old Saudi patient who was suffering from liver failure. He was given a liver transplant from a donor who was brain dead. The patient spent only a day in critical care then recovered fully. The second case was a 50-year-old patient also suffering from liver failure who also received a liver transplant from a donor who was brain dead and has fully recovered .
