Victor de Luna, who was leaving the Kingdom on an exit-only visa, was stopped at King Khaled International Airport on Dec. 11 with 150 kg of copper cable worth SR3,000 which he had stolen from his employer.
He had recently resigned his job as a furnace operator at Saudi Mechanical Industries, a foundry in Riyadh’s Second Industrial Area.
De Luna, 30, of Jaen, Nueva Ecija, was released after his former employer waived his private right to demand compensation for the crime, Ezzedin H. Tago, charge d’affaires at the Philippine Embassy, told Arab News.
John Leonard Monterona, Migrante-Middle East regional coordinator, told Arab News that De Luna’s brother who worked with De Luna at the foundry confirmed the return of his sibling to the Philippines.
“Let us take extra care and be prudent enough in our actions,” said Monterona. “Aside from working hard, doing our level best for our respective companies, we should also respect the customs and traditions of the Kingdom.”
“Victor wants to be with his wife Dory and two kids,” De Luna’s brother told Arab News. He said his brother was planning to work as a farmer.
