“The ongoing event comes on the heels of the success of previous women artists’ bazaars in Riyadh, which has very been commendable,” said Abdullah Al-Washeel, director general of the National Project for Tourism Human Resources Development (Takamul).
He added that 20 artisans are participating in the bazaar, adding that the Takamul had nominated a number of women who had already completed training courses on handcrafts and related subjects held by the SCTA over the last four years.
He added that Takamul has signed a memorandum of understanding with a number of specialized authorities, such as the Al-Hokair Group and Carrefour, to market and showcase women artisans’ products. He said SCTA President Prince Sultan bin Salman had ordered similar women bazaars to be held in various parts of the Kingdom such as Tabuk, Qassim and Jeddah.
The SCTA will also organize on Wednesday a workshop in Rumah Valley on “Tourism Enriches,” an outreach program undertaken by the SCTA in other cities and provinces in the Kingdom.
The program aims to highlight the positive impact of tourism to beneficiaries who have found investment opportunities, possibly leading to self-employment.
“I expect good participation from group heads and officials of government agencies, businesses and people interested in the field of tourism,” said Abdul Rahman Jassas, program executive director.
He added that Ramah municipality has several tourism attractions that attract visitors, especially from neighboring areas.
