Prince Naif ordered the payment of SR100,000 to the officer's bereaved family as immediate assistance in addition to SR1 million to pay his debts. He was also posthumously promoted from the rank of deputy sergeant to sergeant.
Al-Majrashi's family will receive the monthly salary of a sergeant, said Maj. Gen. Zamim Al-Suwat, director general of border guards. The officer will also get King Abdul Aziz Medal as a posthumous award while one of his sons or brothers will be appointed in the border guards.
"Al-Majrashi martyred while performing his national duty," the director general said. He commended his officers' efforts to prevent attempts to smuggle drugs and arms into the Kingdom. He thanked Prince Naif for his gesture.
Earlier Gen. Al-Suwat visited the slain officer's house in Jazan to convey the condolences of Prince Naif and other senior officials to the family. He also attended a funeral prayer for the officer.
