KBR made the announcement on its website on Wednesday. "KBR will provide front-end engineering and design and project management services to develop the process design, layout, integration and optimization of the facility, develop equipment and material specifications, prepare EPC bid packages and develop an estimate for the construction of the refinery," the company said.
"KBR is pleased to be selected to take part in such a significant project for Saudi Aramco," said KBR Downstream President John Quinn. "KBR is committed to providing Saudi Aramco with quality front-end engineering and design and project management services."
KBR will assist Saudi Aramco in overseeing, managing and directing the work-related activities for all phases of the Jazan refinery and marine terminal project.
KBR has also committed to execute part of the front-end engineering and design in the Kingdom. "The Jazan refinery and terminal project is designed to provide a primary foundation industry for the Jazan Economic City development and to provide additional refined products to satisfy the growth in domestic demand within the Kingdom," said KBR.
Work on the project is expected to begin this month.
According to Quinn, the latest award — along with its existing work at Ras Tanura, Yanbu and Shaybah — signifies KBR's continued commitment to support Saudi Aramco development programs.
