The campaign, called “Salamat,” commemorates the king’s successful operation and homecoming.
Salamat will include many special events and activities and highlight the health care achievements during King Abdullah’s reign.
Al-Rabeeah told reporters that a new website launched at the ministry headquarters on Thursday would give visitors a complete idea about the ministry’s programs for the next three days.
“We want to tell the people of King Abdullah's contributions toward health care in the Kingdom,” he said.
Ministry representatives, health directors and hospital managers will visit not only patients in the Kingdom’s hospitals, but also those in private homes who are receiving care through the home care program, he added.
Under the program, the minister said that every patient in the Kingdom, as well as Saudi patients abroad, would receive a letter from the king conveying his best wishes for a speedy recovery.
He also said that additional medical teams would be sent to primary, elementary and secondary schools in all regions of the Kingdom.
The teams will introduce students to preventive health care practices in areas such as oral and dental health and healthy diets. Students will also receive awareness publications and brochures.
Medical teams will visit airports, prominent media outlets and chambers of commerce and industry to provide citizens with an array of biometric services, including hypertension, diabetes and BMI screenings.
These services will also be available at selected shopping malls, parks and schools. Brochures will be distributed on a variety of health care topics, and blood donation centers will also be operating.
Dr. Khaled Al-Mirghalani, ministry spokesman, said the ministry would release a number of publications on health projects implemented during the reign of King Abdullah.
The International Islamic Relief Organization-Saudi Arabia (IIROSA) has adopted 2,000 orphans to commemorate the return of King Abdullah to the Kingdom in good health. This was disclosed by the organization’s secretary-general, Adnan Basha, in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency on Thursday.
