Trial proceedings were initiated by the District and Sessions Court in Kot Lakhpat Jail Friday, and the accused’s refusal was made before Additional District and Sessions Court Judge Muhammad Yousuf Aujla. Davis is accused of killing two youths — Faizan and Faheem — at Qartaba Chowk on Jan. 27.
The charge sheet relayed the sequence of the events in which Davis shot dead the youths callously and then tried to escape, before being caught at Old Anarkali Chowk. The murder trial is the first of two legal cases involving Davis. On March 14, a Lahore court will decide whether he enjoys diplomatic immunity.
Meanwhile, two retired generals slammed Davis’ action while also describing the American as a CIA operative. Former spy master Lt. Gen. Hamid Gul told Arab News, “Raymond Davis is the acting chief of CIA in Pakistan.”
He said, “Satellite phones, SIMs, and other items recovered from Davis clearly suggest that he has been directing the drones.”
Gul also said that the neo-colonial powers are using Facebook and Twitter to destabilize Islamic states in order to grab the natural resources. Former Chief of Army Staff Gen. Aslam Beg in a TV interview said, ”Unauthorized visas were given to at least 3,000 CIA contractors by Ambassador Hussain Haqqani from Washington and Rehman Malik from Dubai.
Beg alleged, ”Most of terrorist activities inside Pakistan were supervised by Davis.”
He also told Arab News on Friday, “It was President Musharraf who gave total permission to the CIA to open its offices in Karachi, Rawalpindi, Lahore and Peshawar. Raymond Davis is the acting head of CIA in Pakistan. His network is operating in Pakistan’s tribal areas.”
