"Self-sufficiency in plasma products in the Arab countries could be achieved only by initiative in the manufacture of such products in our part of the world," Al-Rabeeah said in a statement on the sidelines of a conference of the Council of Arab Health Ministers currently underway in Beirut.
The minister hoped that his call would be welcomed by the council as it was a significant factor in offering better health care to the citizens in the region.
He said the kingdom played a substantial role in formulating programs for quality service to the sick. "The Kingdom has never been stingy in supporting the cause of raising the health level of the Arab public,” he said.
He added that the council planned to discuss the coordination of efforts to the exchange of expertise between the health ministries in the member countries and setting up factories to guarantee medical and food safety in addition to joint programs to counter medical errors and better quality of health service, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
