The collaboration is part of the SCTA’s “A gift from Saudi Arabia,” which is aimed at marketing handicrafts and heritage products made by individual artisans, women's associations and craft production centers.
The initiative also aims to increase productive families' income by encouraging and helping to market their products electronically through a website called Village Market (www.e-mall.com.sa).
Saad bin Awad Ghatani, SCTA's handmade products development supervisor, said, “Marketing handicrafts in the Kingdom is one of the most important issues that artisans want to be solved. Therefore, an agreement was reached between the SCTA and the Saudi Post to devote a website to market their products. The Saudi Post is facilitating the marketing process through its offices in and outside the Kingdom.”
Earlier, the SCTA and Saudi Post met to discuss an initiative to support crafts through the provision of marketing outlets so that artisans can gain access to consumers.
The Saudi Post made an adequate presentation of its postal services.
Khalid bin Abdullah Tahir, adviser to SCTA Chairman Prince Sultan bin Salman, commended the Saudi Post’s advanced services. “During our meeting we came across very distinct postal services which are very important to those provided by other sectors, particularly in the field of tourism, in mail-order trade of handicrafts,” he said.
He pointed out that the infrastructure of “location specification” and other services of delivery and demand are considered “significant and substantial.”
