In a statement during a session, Shoura Chairman Abdullah Al-Asheikh offered the council's congratulations to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah, Crown Prince Sultan, deputy premier and minister of defense and aviation and Interior Minister Prince Naif, second deputy premier and interior minister, for their commitment toward maintaining security and stability in the Kingdom.
Al-Asheikh said he appreciated the cooperation extended by the security officials and citizens in rejecting the devious ideologies that were against the Islamic faith. Everyone responded positively to maintain peace and order in the country and felt that proper dialogue could only resolve issues, the chairman said.
Following the session on Sunday, Shoura Council Secretary General Muhammad Al-Ghamdi said the members requested the mobile operators to stop circulating spam messages. However, Al-Ghamdi said the members agreed for the mobile operators to give an option to receive or reject spam sms messages.
They said service providers must prevent spam messages and provide the service on a optional basis to their customers.
Such tie-up will also help develop computer programs and technology and create more job opportunities for young Saudi university graduates including beneficiaries of King Abdullah Foreign Scholarship Program.
“The Shoura is seeking, in association with CITC, to create a competitive atmosphere based on justice and transparency,” the council said, adding it would contribute to providing high quality telecom services at suitable prices.
“It will also activate the role of the private sector, boost its investments in the sector and enhance public awareness on telecom and IT services, encourage its use to promote productivity and increase the national economy’s efficiency,” the Shoura said.
