The four-day event, which ends on Thursday, focuses on some of the fastest growing sectors that are crucial to the Kingdom — aviation security, IT and commercial, as well as homeland security and policing, fire and rescue, and health and safety. They include the most modern policing, countermeasures and security systems in general and security fences, thermal scanners, monitoring and surveillance systems, biometric readers and specialized arms and hazard control instruments in particular.
Certain international market leaders have come together to initiate the event, jointly by Al-Harithy Company for Exhibitions and the CWC Group. According to the organizers, Saudi Arabia's homeland security market is forecast to become the second largest in the world after the United States, expected to be worth $97 billion in the next seven years. "This equates to a massive $12 billion spend per year, highlighting very real business opportunities in this rapidly evolving market," Zahoor Siddique, vice present, ACE, told media persons.
The construction industry in Saudi Arabia, has also seen an increased awareness of the problems and enforcement of safety regulations, due to the number of major projects under way across the Kingdom, including the $6 billion development of the Makkah-Madinah Railway, the expansion of King Abdulaziz International Airport and the development of Jeddah Islamic Seaport. These projects have led to a boom in the demand for safety training and equipment, fire services, detection and alarm systems, he added. According to CWC Group's Exhibitions Director Rob Percival, the event offers an opportunity to local dealers first-hand information about state-of-the-art technologies and services related to security aspects.
The exhibition complex includes an interactive demonstration area, allowing special outdoor demonstrations and live displays. "Protex Arabia will be the first opportunity in the Kingdom to view special demonstrations of the latest unmanned drone technology, thanks to leading Saudi systems integrator SecuTronic, as well as presentations from armored Hummer manufactures, CCTV, the Police K9 unit and fire service," he added.
