MODON Director General Tawfig bin Fawzan Alrabiah said the number of plants had now increased to 100 from 20 two years ago.
MODON will develop the region by attracting supporting services, residential and commercial projects.
It will also provide water, electricity, communications and industrial security services.
The city, located between Abha and Khamis Mushayit is about 24 km away from Abha airport.
A project for 7 km fencing of the industrial city, at a cost of SR2.7 million, was also signed.
MODON is currently overseeing 20 existing industrial cities in regions including Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Qassim, Al-Ahsa, Asir, Al-Jouf, Tabuk, Hail, Najran, Jazan, Al-Kharj, Arar, Sudair City and the Petro Rabigh complex.
The cities consist of 3,000 industrial projects, representing 60 percent of the factories in the Kingdom, with total investments exceeding SR250 billion.
MODON receives online applications to process projects.
