An official source at the organization told the newspaper that under the new regulations, cash will be paid to employees of the private sector in case their company goes out of business or because the worker had left for one reason or another.
“This payment will be temporary until the employee finds another job,” he explained, expecting the new rules to prompt the unemployed to look for jobs very quickly.
GOSI plans to make it compulsory for all business owners to register all workers under the social security system. It said all workers, including foreigners, must be registered.
It warned that any establishment that fails to register all its employees or update its data regularly would face difficulties when dealing with government departments.
It added that any private establishment that fails to abide by its directive would not be given a registration certificate.
It gave companies until July 6 to register all their employees and said after this date electronic government services will be stopped for them if they have not complied.
