Korean golfer triumphs at 6th Xerox Open in Riyadh

“It’s all about hard work,” the Korean said of his victory.
A zero handicap, Kim scored 56, even  par on the compact City Center layout. He started with a bogey, but managed to finish level par on both the front and back nine.
For his feat, Kim received a Ping K15 golf set and crystal trophy.
The weather conditions were golfer-friendly in the two-day full handicap stroke play competition that attracted 95 players of 15 different nationalities.  The course was set up well, the greens terrific and pin positions were very tricky even for the well experienced players.
During the awards ceremony, Assistant Golf Club Manager Baby Joseph thanked the sponsors, players and InterContinental management for their great support. Golf professional Mohammad Anwar Naz helped Joseph organize this major event.
Halim Ammoura, marketing director at Saudi Xerox Agencies, awarded the major prizes to the winners. He was assisted by Mohammed Al Otaibi, financial controller at InterCon, and Saudi Xerox Senior Marketing Executive Zamil Kasim.
“Saudi Xerox has a long standing relationship with InterContinental Group and a keen player in the golfing community the past six years. We are in high spirits to support this great sport and continue our participation in other upcoming championships scheduled for the year,” said Ammoura.
Filipino golfer Rudy Pranga won Best Gross honors and the prize of Xerox multifunction color printer.
Danny Naval was the A-Division champion with a net score of 61, while  New Zealander Julian Bennett finished runner-up. Naval took home an Odyssey 2-ball putter and crystal trophy and Bennett a Callaway standbag and trophy.
In the B-Division, the first and second prizes went to Korean brothers Abdullah Kim and Chang Youel Kim, respectively. In addition to the trophies they received Odyssey 2-ball putter and Callaway bag. Both players scored a net 58.
In the C- Division, Saudi Abdul Aziz Kridis bested the field for first place with a net score of 60 with David Lloyd Bantug runner-up on 61. Kris won the prize of Callaway hybrid and Bantug a ping putter.
Anne Bjornstad received a Ping Craz-E putter plus trophy for winning the Ladies Division with a net 57 and Natcha Biswas a Cleveland wedge plus trophy for second place with 67.
Naren Swarup and Jun Saporsantos nabbed the nearest to the pin prizes.
Also, several Xerox multifunction machines were raffled off for all the participants.
