“This has made coffee drinking popular not only in the morning but also for social gatherings in the afternoon and at night,” said Hattan Saaty, the brand manager of Cofique, a newly introduced coffee drink in the Kingdom.
He was in town for a presentation called “Coffee Cup Tasting Training Program” organized by the new brand.
Denisley Bassoli, the research and development director at Iguacu Café in Brazil, said the economic crisis and scientific research claiming that coffee had negative health effects have led to a fall in demand of coffee. This negative trend, however, has been reversed, as more youngsters are keen on trying newly introduced flavors.
According to Bassoli, the consumption of coffee has increased by 30 percent worldwide over the last 10 years.
The top producer countries of coffee are Brazil, Vietnam, Indonesia and Colombia; the top consuming countries, mainly due to the cold weather, are Finland, Sweden and Norway.
