"The Agreement, which will be applied on the basis of comity and reciprocity pending its entry into force, will liberalize our bilateral aviation relationship," Mofid Deak, press attaché of the US Embassy in Riyadh, told Arab News.
Describing it as an important agreement, Deak said it would strengthen and expand the already-strong trade and tourism links with Saudi Arabia by opening opportunities for air service and encouraging vigorous price competition by airlines while preserving both countries' commitment to aviation safety and security. He added that the accord will also benefit American and Saudi Arabian businesses and travelers.
The United States has negotiated Open Skies Agreement with more than 100 partners from every region of the world and at every level of economic development, Deak said.
Open Skies agreements have vastly expanded international passenger and cargo flights to and from the United States, promoting increased travel and trade, enhancing productivity, and spurring high-quality job opportunities and economic growth.
