The factory, set up with an investment of AED170 million, is one of the biggest and high-end technology plants in the region to produce industrial, instrumentation, control and low voltage power cables.
Ras Al Khaimah has started to attract a number of reputed companies recently.
Al Dobowi Group recently opened a region’s largest battery plant with an investment of AED200.
“We are delighted to welcome MESC as the newest entrant to the rapidly growing portfolio of major industries that have set up base in emirate,” said Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, supreme council member and ruler of Ras Al Khaimah.
“Ras Al Khaimah in line with UAE’s national policy has been trying to build a diversified model of economy by encouraging industries, tourism, trade and services and we are glad that the competitiveness of the emirate in the manufacturing sector is increasingly recognized by local and international companies,” he said as he inaugurated the cable plant on Monday.
The inaugural function took place in the distinguished presence of Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, crown prince of Ras Al Khaimah, Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi, UAE Minister of Foreign Trade, Emad Madani, Saudi Arabian Consul General in the UAE, Abdulaziz Al Namlah, chairman and the board executive director of MESC, and other dignitaries.
Abdulaziz Al Namlah said Ras Al Khaimah was selected as the location because of its infrastructural facilities and the competitive advantage offered by the emirate as an investor friendly destination.
“MESC’s new manufacturing facility that spread over an area of 76,900 sq meters in Al Ghail Industrial Park,is designed to supply high- end quality cables in the region,” he added.
The plant has an advanced laboratory with extensive range of test and measurement equipments specifically for the Flame Retardant Control and Power Cables, Fire Resistant Instrumentation Cables and Low Smoke Halogen Free Cables.
The UAE-based Al Dobowi Group’s battery plant in Ras al Khaimah, opened recently, can design and develop motive power batteries for use in electric forklift trucks, industrial cleaning machines and access platforms.
