Osama Al-Nogali, spokesman for the ministry, denied that the Kingdom has announced anything in this regard, adding rumors cause confusion and lead to more rumors.
He said that any announcement by the ministry will be made via its website and that people should follow it to keep abreast of developments.
Many Saudi families commute between Bahrain and Alkhobar either for work or education. Following recent instability in Bahrain, some Saudi families left and the King Fahd Causeway, which was inaugurated by the late King Fahd and Sheikh Isa bin Salman in 1986, was shut down for nearly a month. The causeway was reopened on April 21 with a limited traffic flow.
An average of around 46,800 people traveled along the bridge each day in 2010.
Rumors of Saudis being targeted in Bahrain have caused panic among some commuters.
Salem, who works in Alkhobar and lives in Bahrain where his children go to school, said that news like this causes confusion. He added that he and his family are hesitant to return to Bahrain after spending the weekend in Alkhobar.
“News should be clarified as soon as possible; people should not be left to speculate,” he said.
Meanwhile, Al-Nogali warned users of social network sites to treat online information with caution and check their authenticity, as there is a chance of false news being spread.
