Mayor Dawn Zimmer says none of the injuries in the 8:30 a.m. Sunday crash are considered life-threatening. The victims were taken to three area hospitals for treatment of their injuries, which mostly were cuts and bruises.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. But city police say it appears that a mechanical failure is to blame.
The National Transportation Safety Board and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey are investigating.
Zimmer says one of the two train tracks may be reopened Sunday afternoon. Officials are hopeful the other will open in time for the Monday morning commute. Nevertheless, additional bus and ferry service will be provided.
