May 11-17: Barcelona Poetry. For a week in May, Barcelona celebrates the written word with a series of events and workshops dedicated to poetry. Bus windows and tube carriages are covered in verse, while poetry readings, lectures and workshops take place across the city. For more information call +34 93 316 10 00.
May 14: Autocton Festival (Films And Visuals Section) focused on new emerging musicians and Visuals performers from Barcelona. This year the festival opens a new section in Cinema Maldà (Carrer del Pi, nº5).  Los Probetas will make a performance on the movie "Ruka " ("The Hand") at 10:00 p.m. Hitabaldaas plays on the film “The Cabinet” of Dr. Caligari (Nu-jazz, shoegaze, ambient) at 10:40 p.m. For more information about this event, visit www.autoctonfestival.com, www.cinemamalda.net and www.myspace.com/hitabaldaas.

May 21: The WOMBATS are a three piece band from Liverpool whose own brand of shimmering, high-speed punk-pop has grabbed many an ear and tapping toe/humous howel of late. They perform live at Sala Apolo, C/Nou de Rambia 113 at 9 p.m.

May 23: Jewels of the Nile perform with Versatile, a songwriter, producer, rapper, singer, DJ and graphics designer at Moog at 9:30 p.m.

May 26-28: Primavera Sound 2011. Primavera Sound offers six outdoor stages and one of the biggest auditoriums in Europe. With events throughout Barcelona for the week surrounding the festival, this is more like a massive summer party than the usual festival. With Pulp, Animal Collective, Grinderman, Echo & The Bunnymen, The National, Belle & Sebastian, Mogwai, The Flaming Lips, Mercury Rev, Fleet Foxesand many more are set to play at this massive event. May 27: James Blake. The British newcomer recently placed on BBC's Sound of 2011 as one of the year's anticipated breakout stars and will be touring extensively to prove them right. Blake began his career by releasing underground EP's, which blended British-pop and American-soul. At El Parc del Forum, Placa De Llevant.

May 29: Shakira. Being one of the most successful Latin artists and winner of two Grammys as well as several Latin Grammys, she has smashed numerous singles records. She performs live at Estadio Olimpico Lluis Companys, Paseo Olimpico 17-19 at 8:30 p.m.
 
May 30: Villarosa: Monraker will perform at Moog from 1:30 a.m. onward.
 
May 31: Maria Aguado will perform live at Sala Apolo at 9 p.m.
