“While one centenarian registered in Mudrikah neighborhood and another one in Asfan, the third man past 100 registered at the Badr Plot in central Makkah,” said Al-Bar, who is also chairman of the local election committee. The mayor added that 39,095 people had already registered for voting until Tuesday. He appealed to citizens to complete their registration formalities without delay, as the last day for registration is Thursday.
He added that soldiers, men under 21 years, women and non-Saudis would not be allowed to vote.
“All interesting events related to the elections are being recorded at the election information center of the municipality,” the mayor said, referring to the keenness of the centenarians to register for voting.
The municipality conducted a workshop to discuss the method and regulations of the registration of candidates on Tuesday. Heads of 10 registration centers attended it.
In another development, the mayor visited the sites of expansion work close to the Grand Mosque, such as the Northern Courtyard. He also visited the Shamia 1 and 2 power projects, which supply power to the current projects; the tunnels in Sulemaniah and Taysir; and the pedestrian tunnels in Qubbah, Gervel, Hajoun and Dahlah Harb. He visited other developmental works in nearby districts as well.
