“This is the first time Jeddah Ghair will be held for 70 days since it was introduced more than 10 years ago,” Kamil told a meeting of the JCCI’s general assembly.
He said Jeddah Ghair would be developed with a variety of attractive programs in order to woo Saudis and expatriates.
“We want to make this festival a better alternative for Saudis than traveling to other countries to spend their summer vacation,” he said.
Kamil said the convening of the general assembly meeting was delayed for two months as a result of Jeddah floods that destroyed the chamber’s electronic systems.
“We were also busy providing relief to the flood victims,” he said.
He said the flood also delayed the preparation of the chamber’s budget.
“We had to spend SR5 million to repair the damages caused by the flood,” the chairman said.
Kamil highlighted Jeddah’s economic importance and its ability to hold major forums such as the Jeddah Economic Forum and the Jeddah Commercial Forum.
Adnan Mandoura, secretary-general of JCCI, emphasized the important role being played by the chamber in Jeddah’s economic, social and humanitarian activities. JCCI has 63 subsidiary committees to deal with various issues and activities.
“Our chamber has been playing a big role in supporting small and medium enterprises and creating more job opportunities for Saudis in cooperation with private companies,” he pointed out.
