He also said during the first three months of the current hijri year, a similar number of beggars were caught of whom only four were Saudis.
“The campaigns were launched by the office in collaboration with the police and the labor office” he said.
Al-Ahmari said the majority of the beggars were illegal residents and warned that more campaigns would be launched to rid the region from this dreadful phenomenon of begging, which is against Islam.
He revealed that the office will organize a meeting next week under the chairmanship of the director of the region’s police to find final solutions to begging, which is expected to increase with the advent of summer when more tourists will visit the region. He said the meeting will also be attended by the passport police and other concerned government departments.
Al-Ahmari urged the citizens not to be over passionate with the beggars who use various methods to take their money and warned them against providing beggars with accommodation or transport.
“We should not help beggars to achieve their evil purposes,” he said.
