Terry and Nowitzki are the only holdovers from the 2006 Mavericks; Dwyane Wade and Udonis Haslem are the only guys remaining on the Heat. Both teams have changed coaches and playing styles.
Terry admitted that he’s made a then-and-now comparison of both teams. It helped him conclude everything is “too different” for it to matter.
Nowitzki said Dallas’ sole focus is on doing the things that have resulted in 10 wins in their last 11 games.
Game 1 is Tuesday in Miami.
Meanwhile, Derrick Rose says the Chicago Bulls will come back hungrier next season after the Miami Heat knocked them out of the playoffs.
As good as they were this season, the Bulls came up short in the Eastern Conference finals. Miami won the series in five games to earn a shot at the championship title with Dallas, which eliminated Oklahoma Thunder after five games.
The Bulls were aiming for more after back-to-back 41-win seasons and first-round playoff exits. They boasted the league’s MVP in Rose, the Coach of the Year in Tom Thibodeau and a league-leading 62 wins while advancing to the conference finals for the first time in 13 years.
If Chicago and Miami becomes a playoff rivalry, the Bulls have questions to answer.
