The program, which is projected to benefit 25,000 students, is meant only for regular students. It will provide on-the-job training to young men and women students, besides giving them an idea about the real work environment in companies and offices. The monthly salary will be between SR1,500 and SR2,000, depending on the student’s qualifications.
Companies, offices and other establishments in the private sector will have to employ students at the rate stipulated for Saudization, which depends on the number of workers in each company. While a company with a workforce between 25 and 500 have to employ Saudi workers at the minimum rate of 4 percent, a company with 501 to 3,000 workers must have 3 percent Saudis, and a company with over 3,000 workers needs 2 percent Saudis.
In another development, the Labor Office in the southern province of Najran announced that 2,500 jobs were available for students looking for training and employment during the summer.
“Students will find job opportunities during the summer mainly in travel services, hospitals, cement and other manufacturing companies in the private sector,” Director of the Labor Office in Najran Hussein Muhammad Al-Saad said in a press statement on Sunday.
He added that almost double the number of students would find employment this year compared to last year, when 1,300 found vacation work in the province.
