They spoke on various topics such as the need for self-transformation to bring about social change, the importance of protecting health and the real power that controls the whole universe.
Shine Tommy Mathew, who won first place in the international speech contest, gave a thought-provoking speech on the topic: “Einstein or Napoleon: Who Owns the World?” She proved that neither prominent scientists nor powerful dictators could conquer the world, which is wholly owned and managed by God, the Almighty.
For Shine the YLP was a stepping-stone to success. "It introduced us to a new world that allowed us to express our thoughts and ideas with self confidence," she told Arab News. Shine thanked God, her parents and the Toastmasters for winning the top prize.
Abrar Abdullah, who won second place, said changing the world would be much easier if one could change himself and his family. Third place winner Ameera Usman highlighted the importance of developing a positive attitude.
The winners of the table topic contest were Rabeeha Abdur Raheem (1st), Aleena Fathim (2nd) and Rashad Naser (3rd) while in the speech evaluation contest Nihal Raheem, Sereena Fathim and Rashwan Nazeer were the top three winners.
The YLP participants and their parents commended TM Rasheed Ali and DTM Joey Villanueva for their selfless efforts in conducting the training program.
Chief guest M.V. Saleem presented mementoes while Abdul Aziz Thankayathil and Nasser Melethil managed the program. Shehzad Shajahan was target speaker for the evaluation contest.
