Liriano (4-6), who held the Chicago White Sox hitless in a wild effort May 3, was perfect through the sixth against the high-scoring Rangers.
Elvis Andrus was the first Texas player to reach base, on rookie third baseman Luke Hughes’ fielding error with one out in the seventh on a questioned ruling.
The Twins scored five times in a 29-minute bottom of the seventh, an inning that included an injury to Texas starter Matt Harrison .
Liriano matched a season high by striking out nine in eight innings, allowing two hits without a walk.
Red Sox 14 Blue Jays 1: In Toronto, Jon Lester pitched two-hit ball over eight innings, David Ortiz and Kevin Youkilis each homered and drove in four runs and the Boston Red Sox won their ninth in a row, battering the Toronto Blue Jays.
Adrian Gonzalez and Dustin Pedroia also homered for Boston, which never trailed while sweeping the three-game series.
Lester (9-2) leads the AL in wins. Toronto’s Jose Bautista ended a 13-game homerless drought with his 21st of the season.
Yankees 9 Indians 1: In New York, Derek Jeter had a pair of RBI singles, Alex Rodriguez drove in three runs and the New York Yankees pounded out a season-high 18 hits in beating the slumping Cleveland Indians.
Jeter singled during a five-run fifth inning and again during a three-run eighth, closing within seven hits of 3,000. The Yankees’ captain has four more games during their homestand to reach the milestone before the team heads out on a six-game trip.
Curtis Granderson went 4 for 4 and drove in a pair of runs, and Brett Gardner had a pair of doubles, a triple and scored three times.
Mariners 7 Tigers 3: In Detroit, Miguel Olivo hit two home runs and Felix Hernandez pitched eight strong innings to lead the Seattle Mariners over the Detroit Tigers.
The Mariners trailed 2-0 and hadn’t hit the ball out of the infield when Olivo led off the fifth with a home run. Seattle went on to score three runs in the inning, and Olivo added a two-run shot in the eighth.
Hernandez (7-5) allowed three runs on nine hits. He struck out six and walked five.
Royals 9 Angels 0: In Anaheim, California, Vin Mazzaro pitched seven stellar innings and the Kansas City Royals turned five double plays to beat the Los Angeles Angels.
Alex Gordon , Billy Butler and Chris Getz each drove in two runs for the Royals, who won seven of their 10 meetings with the Angels. This is just the second time they’ve taken a season series from them in the last 15 years.
Mazzaro (1-1) scattered five hits and walked five in his third start with Kansas City.
White Sox 5 Athletics 4: In Chicago, Adam Dunn hit a three-run homer to back seven strong innings by Phil Humber and the Chicago White Sox beat the Oakland Athletics.
Humber (6-3) pitched at least seven innings for the fifth straight start. He struck out a career-high seven and gave up four hits.
The White Sox broke a tie with two runs in the seventh. Mark Teahen scored on a throwing error by Oakland third baseman Scott Sizemore and Paul Konerko had an RBI single.
Guillermo Moscoso (2-3) took the loss.
The Athletics scored once off closer Sergio Santos in the ninth, but he got Coco Crisp to ground out with two on to end it for his 12th save.
Rays 9 Orioles 6: In Baltimore, Johnny Damon hit his 27th career leadoff home run, Evan Longoria had an inside-the-park homer and three RBIs, and the Tampa Bay Rays cruised past the Baltimore Orioles.
Justin Ruggiano had three hits for the Rays, who won two of three from Baltimore to clinch their first winning road trip of 11 or more games since 2003. Tampa Bay is 6-4 on a four-city, 11-game journey that concludes with a makeup game in Detroit on Monday.
Damon had two hits and scored twice. The 37-year-old has reached base in a career-best 37 consecutive games, tying the club record set by Ben Grieve in 2001.
Longoria hit the third inside-the-park homer in the 20-year history of Camden Yards; Butch Davis did it for Texas in 1993 and Detroit’s Shane Halter hit one in 2003.
