Also participating in the protest were the Minister of State for Media Affairs Taher Adwan and the chairman of the Jordan Press Association, Tareq Momani.
According to AFP bureau staffers, 10 unknown assailants stormed into the agency’s offices, damaging equipment and furniture.
A probe panel formed by the Public Security Directorate (PSD) has embarked on an investigation to hunt the attackers, the PSD spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Khatib said.
The AFP bureau chief Randa Habib was accused of false reporting earlier this week when she quoted unidentified security sources that the motorcade of King Abdallah was attacked with stones and bottles during a visit to the city of Tafileh, 180 km south of Amman, on Monday.
Adwan denied the report, but conceded that a “friction” had taken place between some pro-democracy protesters and policemen during a scramble of people to shake hands with the monarch.
