Output at the Prince George refinery, normally 12,000 barrels per day, has been cut to 8,700 bpd while the line is out, Husky spokeswoman Carla Yuill said.
The refinery has sufficient crude in storage to operate until July 8 and is considering other options, including trucking crude, to supply the facility, Yuill said.
Pembina shut its 18,500 barrel a day Western pipeline system down more than a week ago as a precaution as wet weather caused mud slides and unstable ground conditions in the British Columbia interior, spokeswoman Shawn Davis said.
There was no rupture or damage to the pipeline, which extends to Kamloops from Taylor, British Columbia, she said.
The company has no timetable yet for restarting the pipeline.
“We’re monitoring the system extremely closely to make sure that sure that we’re on top of any potential issues as quickly as possible,” Davis said. “Our first priority is the health and safety of our people working to stabilize the lines where there has been erosion.”
An unusually wet spring and early summer has caused flooding and other problems throughout Canada’s westernmost province.
Last week, a mudslide briefly closed a section of the Trans Canada Highway near Hope, British Columbia, and another caused a Canadian National Railway train to derail near Lemoray.
