The university has banned smoking in all its buildings and facilities, including its colleges and other utilities. The dean of students’ affairs was assigned to enforce the ban.
The newspaper said first-time offenders will receive a written warning, the second time they will be asked to sign a written pledge not to smoke inside the university, the third time they will be asked to pay a SR200 fine, and the fourth time they will be fined SR500.
The punishments progress until they are barred from monthly grants and eventually dismissal for a whole semester.
